My love of working with fiber began at a young age as I grew up overseas. I was taught to knit by my kindergarten teacher in Geneva. I furthered my knitting interests by taking a summer knitting class in Hong Kong. I moved to Melbourne, Australia, as a teen and there my mother and I were introduced to the spinning of wool. My Dad bought two Ashford Traditional Spinning Wheel kits directly from the manufacturer as he traveled through New Zealand, and Mum and I became avid spinners and knitters. There‚Äôs little more satisfying than taking a freshly shorn fleece and, through carding, spinning, and knitting, turning it into a wearable garment!

I moved to the U.S. to attend college and ended up settling in Nelson County with my husband, David. I joined a spinning group and was introduced to weaving since many spinners in the group are weavers as well. After many years of contemplation, I finally purchased a used loom and my love of weaving began. I so enjoy the process of creating something, whether it be a rug made from scrap selvedges, or patterned placemats woven from cotton yarns, or a sweater knitted from homespun wool yarns. Watching a product evolve from simple materials into something lovely and useful is incredibly satisfying. I love the feel of working with fibers and the joy that it brings to my heart. I hope that my creations bring joy to the hearts of others as well.
